Support FAQs

Where can I find the user guide for the software?

When you double click vst-1.2.14-i700.exe, the user guide is automatically copied to your PC. You can access the user guide in the following location: START=>PROGRAMS=>VOICE SIGNAL APPLICATION.

The user guide can also be found on your i700 Companion CD (IMPORTANT: Older versions of the CD-ROM may not have the current version). To find the documentation, Open "My Computer," Right-click the CD-ROM icon and select, "Explore." You can find the user guide in the D:\SAMSUNG\APPS\VSignal directory.

When I use the Digit Dial function, the application aborts.

This was a bug in version 1.1.08 that occured if you completed the "Adapt Digts" routine. If the digit dial feature aborts prior to connecting your call, installing version 1.2.05 or later will fix the problem in conjunction with the following steps in this order:

  1. On your i700 click Start => Programs=> VoiceSignal Setup => Erase => Reset Digits.

  2. Uninstall the old version on your i700 device.

  3. Download the zip file by clicking the link, above

  4. Extract and run the filevst-1.2.14-i700.exe to install the new version on your i700 device.
How do I launch the voice dialing software with a button?

On your i700 go to START=>SETTINGS=>BUTTONS. Select "Button 1," then select "VoiceSignal" from the pull down menu below. The RECORD button on the side of the i700 will now launch the VoiceSignal application. Click OK.

When I use VoiceSignal, I cannot hear it "talk" to me. How do I get the program to produce sound?

Go to your SETTINGS menu and click on SOUNDS & NOTIFICATIONS. Make sure there is a check mark next to PROGRAMS, and that the System volume slider bar is set between Silent and Loud. If there is no check mark next to PROGRAMS or the slider bar is set to Silent, you will not be able to hear VoiceSignal's prompts.

How can I change the default phone number for a Quick Dial contact?

While in Pocket Outlook, view your contacts in list form. Next to each contact you should see a small blue circle or blue letter on the right side of the screen. Click the small blue circle, then select the default number for a contact.

How do I mazimize my success rate using Name Dial? You must say the name exactly as it appears in your contact list. If the contact is "John and Jane Smith", then you must say "John and Jane Smith" when using Name Dial. Similarly, if the contact is "John F. Smith", you must pronounce the middle initial. The only time you do not pronounce the exact name of your contact is when the name is listed as Last Name, First Name. For example, a contact named "Smith, John" would still be pronounced "John Smith" in Name Dial.

After I change my contacts list, I see the screen, "Please wait while the VoiceSignal application reads your contacts." Can this be avoided?

Any time there is a change to your contact list, the VoiceSignal application must scan your contact list to see if you've added, edited, or deleted contacts and phone numbers. This can take some time with large contact lists.

New in Version 1.2.14: Go to VoiceSignal Setting and change the setting in the "Update Contacts" menu from Automatic to Manual.

My anti-virus software reported a virus or Trojan Horse in the installation file.

We have read reports in user forums that certain anti-virus software packages have detected a Trojan Horse in VoiceSignal's software. VoiceSignal does not include Trojan Horses, cookies, viruses, tracking software, or any other hidden applets in the software it distributes. The cab file contained within the installer does, however check your device to see if it is a legitimate Samsung i700 (this software is designed to only install and run on i700 devices). It is possible that the software that performs this check may trigger some antivirus software.
